Sr. Manager, Cloud Traffic Engineering will lead a team within the Cloud Engineering organization to manage traffic across a global cloud platform. This leader is responsible for the strategy, architecture, and operating model for critical systems including the public-facing edge load-balancer platform and Tess Cloud Networking. The role involves optimizing north-south and east-west traffic flows, improving reliability during major business events, and building an AI-first organization that utilizes automation for telemetry analysis, anomaly detection, and capacity forecasting to move toward a NoOps model. Key technical areas include service mesh, load balancing, routing, cluster networking, and multi-region dependencies. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in distributed systems, cloud networking, and SRE practices while demonstrating an ability to manage senior engineers and translate complex infrastructure tradeoffs into clear technical direction for global teams across the US, Dublin, and Bengaluru.
Define and lead the strategy for edge traffic management, load balancing, service mesh, and traffic policy across global regions.
Optimize performance and resilience for north-south and east-west traffic flows including ingress, egress, and multi-region dependencies.
Build an AI-first organization by applying automation to telemetry analysis, anomaly detection, capacity forecasting, and incident response.
Reduce manual operational effort and move the platform toward a NoOps model through intelligent systems and automated workflows.
Establish engineering standards for availability, security, observability, and safe production changes across global teams.
Develop senior engineering talent and represent the team in multi-functional and executive forums to communicate technical trade-offs.
What we're looking for
Experience leading cloud traffic engineering, network platform, service mesh, edge, load balancing, SRE, or related infrastructure teams for large-scale, multi-region environments.
Experience managing senior engineers and technical leaders while remaining credible in architecture discussions and long-range planning.
Expertise in distributed systems, cloud networking, routing, load balancing, resiliency, and observability in high-availability environments.
Proven AI-first approach to engineering using AI and automation for system building, operations, incident response, or platform efficiency.
Ability to balance reliability, security, performance, developer experience, delivery speed, and cost while establishing operating mechanisms for service ownership.
Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence across organizational boundaries and engage with global teams.
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience (preferred).
