The Sr. Lead Software Engineer joins the Consumer and Community Banking team to design and deliver high-quality architecture solutions across software applications and platform products. This role involves owning end-to-end solution designs, including integration patterns, APIs, data flows, and target-state architectures while managing trade-offs regarding security, resiliency, performance, and cost. The engineer will establish reference architectures, govern design patterns, and drive the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed. Key technical requirements include experience with distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures using Kafka, and cloud-native engineering in multi-cloud and hybrid environments with specific AWS expertise. The role requires proficiency in Java, Python, and React. The work focuses on solving complex problems within the financial services domain by building scalable system designs and reusable components to ensure operational excellence.
Design end-to-end solution architectures including target-state designs, integration patterns, APIs, and data flows.
Drive architectural decisions regarding security, resiliency, performance, cost, and time-to-market while managing technical risks.
Translate product capabilities into scalable system designs with clearly defined non-functional requirements.
Establish and govern reference architectures, design patterns, and reusable components to accelerate delivery across teams.
Partner with product management to shape roadmaps and prioritize architectural investments and technical debt reduction.
Conduct design and code reviews to ensure architectural consistency, quality, and maintainability across engineering teams.
Drive the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
Serve as a subject matter expert to advocate for firmwide frameworks, tools, and SDLC practices.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Experience owning solution and platform architecture for distributed systems including security, resiliency, performance, cost, and time-to-market trade-offs.
Proven background designing microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures like Kafka.
Hands-on cloud-native engineering experience in multi-cloud and hybrid environments with strong AWS expertise.
Experience building reusable capabilities such as APIs, services, frameworks, and reference architectures to scale adoption through standardization.
Proficiency with Java, Python, and React or comparable technologies for code review and supporting engineering teams.
Experience using firm-approved AI-assisted engineering tools while ensuring responsible AI controls and output validation.
Banking/Financial Services domain expertise (preferred); AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification (preferred); experience with TOGAF or similar governance frameworks (preferred).
