What you'll do

  • Lead technical design and delivery of complex full-stack capabilities using Java, Spring Boot, and React or Angular.
  • Drive event-driven architecture patterns using Kafka, including idempotency, retries, and schema evolution.
  • Establish and improve engineering practices for automated testing, CI/CD quality gates, and release readiness.
  • Own production excellence by reducing incidents, performing root cause analysis, and tuning system performance.
  • Improve observability by defining actionable metrics, dashboards, logs, and alerts using telemetry tooling.
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, and technical coaching on reusable patterns and standards.
  • Drive adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
  • Partner with product and operations teams to align delivery plans and manage technical risk.

What we're looking for

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Advanced hands-on experience building microservices and APIs using Java (8+) and Spring Boot in large-scale environments.
  • Strong full-stack engineering depth with modern web frameworks like React or Angular and pragmatic API/UI design tradeoffs.
  • Proven experience building and operating event-driven systems with Kafka, including reliability patterns like retries and idempotency.
  • Solid database skills using SQL for data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with NoSQL data stores such as Cassandra, DynamoDB, or Elasticsearch for scale and reliability.
  • Experience designing resilient, highly available architectures with a focus on failure-mode analysis and secure engineering practices.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and coaching others on compliant usage.
  • Experience building client-facing digital products in banking, lending, payments, or small-business platforms (preferred).
  • Experience deploying and operating services on cloud platforms such as AWS or Cloud Foundry (preferred).
  • Experience with service reliability practices, PCI DSS requirements, and relevant cloud or security certifications (preferred).
