JOB TITLE: Sr Lead Software Engineer - AI Engineer
As a Sr Lead Software Engineer - AI Engineer on the Core Engineering Services team within Consumer & Community Banking, you will shape technology platforms that enable teams to ship secure, stable, and scalable products. You will define technical strategies, lead cross-functional execution, and drive the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed. Your daily work involves leading multiple technology implementations, managing trade-offs with stakeholders, and mentoring engineers. You will utilize tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Claude to accelerate development cycles while designing and deploying agentic systems and LLM-powered workflows. The role requires expertise in distributed systems, microservices, and cloud technologies like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform to solve complex engineering challenges.
Define and drive the technical strategy for modern engineering platforms to align with business outcomes.
Lead multiple technology implementations across teams while ensuring adherence to enterprise standards for security and reliability.
Partner with senior leaders to clarify priorities, manage technical trade-offs, and build consensus on competing objectives.
Guide teams through complex cross-product programs by establishing operating rhythms and transparent progress reporting.
Drive the adoption and governance of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Apply knowledge of SDLC toolchains and automation capabilities to increase the value of automation at scale.
Design and deploy agentic systems and LLM-powered workflows in production environments with strong governance.
Mentor engineers and senior technical contributors to raise engineering standards through coaching and influence.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Proven ability to lead end-to-end design and delivery of complex software systems, including architecture, development, testing, and operational readiness.
Strong system design skills including experience with distributed systems, microservices, and application programming interfaces.
Proven track record using AI coding assistants to accelerate development cycles and coaching teams to adopt these tools as standard practice.
Experience designing and deploying agentic systems, such as LLM-powered agents and multi-step reasoning workflows, in production environments.
Experience building and operating large-scale, high-performance digital applications using modern cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Experience implementing industry-standard security practices and technology controls throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
Experience building developer platforms or "paved road" capabilities like reusable frameworks and self-service tooling (preferred).
