TL;DR · Senior Facilities Engineer, Fluids & Cryogenics

As a Sr. Facilities Engineer (Fluids & Cryogenics) at the Starlink Production facility, you will ensure the safety, integrity, and efficiency of critical mechanical systems. You will lead the design, installation, and maintenance of industrial compressed air and cryogenic systems involving liquid nitrogen and gaseous nitrogen. Your daily responsibilities include performing engineering calculations for pumps and pressure vessels, conducting root cause analysis for equipment failures, and developing preventive maintenance strategies to optimize utility performance. You will collaborate with automation teams to integrate mechanical equipment with PLC, SCADA, and BMS platforms while managing vendors for capital projects. The role requires expertise in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and process engineering to manage complex piping systems. You must navigate technical requirements including ASME, NFPA, OSHA, ANSI, and API standards to maintain high-reliability infrastructure within a production environment.

What you'll do

  • Design, install, and maintain industrial compressed air systems including compressors, dryers, and piping.
  • Lead the design and maintenance of cryogenic systems involving liquid nitrogen and gaseous nitrogen.
  • Perform engineering calculations for equipment sizing and selection of pumps, valves, and pressure vessels.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting for equipment failures and safety-related concerns.
  • Develop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to improve reliability of critical mechanical assets.
  • Manage contractors and vendors for capital projects while ensuring quality, schedule, and budget adherence.
  • Oversee commissioning, acceptance testing, and startup activities for all mechanical utility systems.
  • Ensure all mechanical systems comply with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional experience with compressed air systems, cryogenic systems, and industrial utility systems.
  • Experience overseeing the design and installation of process gas and cryogenic piping systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and process engineering.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment including pumps, compressors, vacuum pumps, and process fans.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as ASME, NFPA, OSHA, ANSI, and API.
  • Demonstrated project management skills for capital projects and vendor management.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or authorized to work under ITAR regulations.
