The Sr. Director, Validation Test Engineering will lead the OCTO validation, characterization, and qualification capability for SpinCo’s integrated data center platforms. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this hands-on technical leadership role involves defining validation strategies, test plans, acceptance criteria, and development lifecycle gates for advanced power, cooling, and controls products. You will personally build test data infrastructure, stand up lab capabilities, and operate characterization labs to ensure reliability at the rack, pod, and data-center levels. Key responsibilities include driving design verification, reliability testing, automated testing, and certification planning. The role requires expertise in electromechanical systems, data acquisition, instrumentation, and root-cause analysis. You will partner with manufacturing and quality teams to move complex hardware from prototype to production readiness for AI data center infrastructure.
Build test data infrastructure to support predictive maintenance models, digital twins, and qualification data.
Partner with manufacturing and quality teams on production-readiness reviews and first-article inspections.
Engage directly with customers to define performance, reliability, and interoperability requirements for AI data center infrastructure.
Personally design and execute test setups, instrumentation, and data pipelines.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Advanced degree in a technical field (preferred).
12+ years of experience in validation, test engineering, systems engineering, product qualification, or reliability engineering.
Experience validating complex electromechanical systems, power systems, cooling systems, controls, data center infrastructure, or high-reliability hardware platforms.
Strong knowledge of DVT, reliability testing, test automation, instrumentation, data acquisition, certification testing, root-cause analysis, and development lifecycle gates.
Experience standing up lab capabilities, test infrastructure, or product development facilities.
Demonstrated ability to partner with manufacturing, quality, engineering, and customers to move products from prototype to production readiness.
Hands-on test design and execution background, including building test setups, instrumentation, and data pipelines personally.
