As Director, Test Engineering, you will lead and scale a globally distributed software test engineering function across the United States, Spain, and India. You will own the end-to-end testing strategy for mobile applications, AI/ML models, and backend platform services while ensuring data integrity for CGM and biosensor data pipelines. Your daily responsibilities include architecting team structures, establishing CI/CD integration standards, managing vendor relationships, and overseeing quality compliance for regulated environments including IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and 21 CFR Part 820. You will utilize tools such as Appium, XCTest, Espresso, REST Assured, Postman, Pact, and performance testing tools like Locust or JMeter. This role addresses the critical challenge of ensuring reliable, accurate, and auditable data flow from wearable hardware through complex ingestion pipelines to provide high-quality insights within a consumer health platform.
Architect and scale a distributed software test engineering team across the U.S., Spain, and India.
Define the end-to-end quality architecture for mobile apps, data pipelines, and AI/ML models.
Oversee resource planning, budgeting, tooling, and third-party vendor relationships for the global test function.
Manage verification of biosensor and CGM data integrity to ensure accuracy in consumer-facing insights.
Build testing infrastructure and CI/CD integrations to support high-frequency releases across all platforms.
Serve as the primary owner for regulatory compliance activities including audit readiness and FDA, HIPAA, and GDPR requirements.
Develop post-deployment monitoring and observability capabilities for real-time quality signals in production.
Represent software quality in leadership discussions to influence roadmap prioritization and risk management.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
12+ years in software or test engineering, including 5+ years leading and scaling engineering managers and global quality teams.
Demonstrated experience building quality engineering functions, including hiring, organizational design, tooling strategy, and culture development for distributed teams.
Hands-on background in mobile quality engineering for iOS and/or Android consumer-facing applications at scale.
Experience with quality strategy for data-intensive platforms, such as IoT, sensor data pipelines, or real-time processing systems.
Proficiency with modern automation frameworks for mobile (Appium, XCTest, Espresso), API (REST Assured, Postman, Pact), and pipeline testing.
Strong knowledge of CI/CD systems and experience integrating automated quality signals into engineering delivery workflows.
Experience owning quality compliance in regulated environments with working knowledge of IEC 62304, ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 820, and related standards.
Experience scaling teams across US, European, and Asian geographies (preferred).
Background in AI/ML system testing, including model validation and drift detection (preferred).
Experience with CGM, bio-wearable, or medical device software quality where hardware and software intersect (preferred).
Experience supporting Regulatory Affairs/Quality Assurance during FDA or CE mark audits (preferred).
Background in non-functional and performance testing tools like Locust, JMeter, Gatling, or k6 (preferred).
