JOB TITLE: Sr. Application Software Engineer, Manufacturing Systems The Sr. Application Software Engineer, Manufacturing Systems joins the application software team to develop mission-critical applications that accelerate launch vehicle production and flight. This role involves owning all aspects of software engineering and product development, including building prototypes to prove design concepts, creating new applications to improve operations, and collaborating on architecture and code reviews. The engineer will work on systems for rapid Starship build and reuse, next-generation manufacturing software for high-throughput factories, and platforms for concurrent data streams. Required skills include full stack development experience and proficiency in object-oriented languages like Python, C#.NET, Go, Scala, or Java. Technical competencies include single page web applications, version control, continuous integration, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, and in-stream data processing using Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.

What you'll do

Develop highly reliable software solutions used across SpaceX operations.
Create new applications to improve internal SpaceX operational processes.
Build prototypes to prove key design concepts and quantify technical constraints.
Own all aspects of software engineering and product development.

Participate in team collaborations on software architecture, design, and code reviews.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or scientific discipline and 5+ years of professional software development experience.
7+ years of professional experience building software in lieu of a degree.
3+ years of professional experience in full stack development.
Programming experience in Python, C#.NET, Go, Scala, Java, or similar object-oriented languages (preferred).
1+ years of rigorous experience building single page web applications (preferred).
Experience with version control, CI/CD, software system design, and performance profiling (preferred).
Experience with build systems, package management, UNIX-like operating systems, and infrastructure tools like Terraform or Ansible (preferred).
U.S. citizenship, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligibility to obtain required Department of State authorizations.
