The Software QA Engineer II joins the Cisco Wireless team to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of next-generation wireless products. In this role, you will validate wireless platforms by writing test plans, developing automation scripts, and analyzing system behavior to identify performance gaps or inconsistencies. You will reproduce customer issues in controlled lab environments and assist in maintaining testbeds featuring routers, switches, and access points. Key technical requirements include programming fundamentals in Python or similar scripting languages, along with a basic understanding of networking concepts like TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and routing. You will also utilize AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot and Cursor to improve testing efficiency. This position focuses on solving technical problems within wireless infrastructure and ensuring high-quality product delivery.
Write and execute test plans and test cases for wireless features and systems.
Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python or similar programming languages.
Analyze test results to identify issues, inconsistencies, or performance gaps.
Reproduce customer and system issues in controlled lab environments.
Set up and maintain testbeds and lab environments including routers, switches, and access points.
Debug and resolve system issues in coordination with development and platform teams.
Use AI-assisted tools like Copilot and Cursor to improve testing efficiency and automation.
What we're looking for
Must have a Master's degree with 0 years of experience or a Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience in a relevant field.
Qualifying education and experience must be in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Network Engineering, or a related field.
Must possess strong programming fundamentals, preferably in Python or a similar scripting language.
Must have a basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and routing.
Must have strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach to troubleshooting system behavior.
Must be curious and interested in AI-enabled engineering practices and using AI tools to improve productivity.
Exposure to networking devices through coursework, labs, or internships (preferred).
Familiarity with setting up small network environments, wireless technologies, or holding a CCNA certification (preferred).
