JOB TITLE: Software Engineering PMTS As a Software Engineering PMTS on the FKP team, you will drive the technical direction for designing and implementing software that manages Kubernetes clusters at massive scale. You will lead the creation of complex design documents, present architectural strategies to senior audiences, and guide the implementation of distributed systems, control planes, and APIs. You will evaluate and integrate open source technologies into the software stack while mentoring other engineers. The role requires deep expertise in Golang, Bash, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, GCP, Terraform, Jenkins, Argo, Spinnaker, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and ElasticSearch. You will solve the technical problem of providing Kubernetes platform-as-a-service to power major products, orchestrating resources across thousands of clusters and substrates to ensure secure, reliable, and cost-efficient infrastructure.

What you'll do

Drive the technical direction for designing and implementing software to manage Kubernetes clusters at massive scale.
Create complex design documents and present architectural strategies to senior technical and cross-functional audiences.
Design and implement distributed systems, control planes, and APIs that operate at planet scale.
Evaluate and integrate open source technologies into the FKP software stack.
Identify architectural gaps and propose technical solutions to resolve them.
Mentor other engineers as they build software against your established designs.
Lead multiple concurrent initiatives and set technical priorities for the team.

What we're looking for

Deep expertise in Golang and Bash (working shell knowledge required).
8+ years of experience with distributed systems, APIs, Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration at scale.
5+ years of experience with AWS and/or GCP services.
Strong experience with Terraform, infrastructure-as-code practices, and CI/CD services like Jenkins, Argo, or Spinnaker.
Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ElasticSearch, or Argus.
Proven track record of architecting and operating systems at planet scale with ownership of major design decisions.
AI proficiency, including applying AI tools to accelerate design, development, and operations.
Excellent technical leadership, mentorship, and communication skills to influence architecture decisions across teams.
