As a Software Engineer Sys 3 within the Global Products Group, you will join a centralized team focused on designing, developing, and troubleshooting software programs for etch and deposition products. You will be responsible for building tools that support infrastructure and technology platforms while ensuring seamless hardware compatibility across the product portfolio. Your daily work involves implementing new customer requirements into existing applications, maintaining codebases, and providing technical guidance to junior engineers. The role requires expertise in Object-Oriented Software, Design Patterns, Finite State Machines, and multithreading with preemptive thread scheduling. You will utilize communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and UART while potentially using C++ or C#. This position addresses critical challenges in the semiconductor industry by developing software for distributed embedded controls systems to enhance equipment performance and functionality.
Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for new products and system enhancements.
Implement new customer requirements and features into existing applications.
Maintain and enhance the existing codebase by investigating and resolving identified problem areas.
Create clear documentation, flowcharts, and well-structured code to demonstrate technical solutions.
Ensure seamless integration between software and hardware across the product portfolio.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
Travel to customer sites as needed to provide direct technical support.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years experience; Master's with 3+ years; PhD; or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of Object-Oriented Software (OOS), Object Oriented Design (OOD), and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) including Design Patterns and Finite State Machines.
Knowledge of multithreading, including preemptive thread scheduling.
Knowledge of communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and UART.
