Software Engineer, Planning & Controls

What you'll do

• Develop and tune low-level flight control algorithms for multirotor and hybrid aircraft on embedded platforms.
• Own the dynamics simulation and aerodynamics modeling of various drone platforms.
• Bring up and tune flight controllers on new hardware systems.
• Develop, tune, and test fault-tolerant control systems for emergency behaviors and motor failures.
• Build a trajectory motion planner for smooth flight and obstacle avoidance within operating envelopes.
• Develop high-level mission route planners with integrated fallback locations.
• Implement and iterate on control algorithms using C++ on embedded hardware.

What we're looking for

• Must possess an MS or PhD degree in EE, ME, CS, Robotics, or a related technical field.
• Must have deep knowledge of control fundamentals including linear and nonlinear systems, stability analysis, and optimization.
• Must have excellent knowledge of C++ and embedded systems.
• Must have experience with dynamics modeling, aerodynamics, and simulation.
• Must have experience developing and tuning flight controllers integrated with state estimation.
• Must have extensive knowledge of motion planning algorithms such as trajectory optimization and A*/D*/RRT variants.
• Must have experience with sensorless brushless DC motor control.
• Must have experience building or owning a robot control stack from design through hardware testing.
