TL;DR · Senior Manager of Software Development, DPU Networking and Storage

The Senior Manager of Software Development — DPU Networking and Storage leads a greenfield initiative to develop a new Data Processing Unit platform. You will build the engineering team from the ground up, defining the architecture, roadmap, and production practices for networking and storage data paths. Your daily work involves guiding software, firmware, and hardware development while making foundational decisions on packet processing, storage I/O behavior, and hardware acceleration. You must possess deep networking data plane expertise and familiarity with storage systems. Key technologies and skills include Linux systems, concurrency, memory management, multicore processing, and performance optimization. You will also manage network virtualization, forwarding, and encapsulation while ensuring production reliability through rigorous benchmarking of throughput, latency, and resource efficiency across the full data path.

What you'll do

  • Define the initial architecture and phased roadmap for a new DPU networking and storage platform.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing team of systems engineers and technical leads.
  • Establish technical strategies for packet processing, storage data paths, and hardware acceleration.
  • Translate infrastructure goals into executable engineering plans with clear milestones and success criteria.
  • Lead the development of networking data plane capabilities including virtualization, forwarding, and traffic management.
  • Define rigorous performance benchmarks for throughput, latency, and resource efficiency across software and hardware.
  • Ensure production reliability by integrating observability, fault isolation, and safe upgrade processes into the architecture.
  • Manage cross-functional partnerships with networking, storage, security, and hardware teams to resolve technical tradeoffs.

What we're looking for

  • Must have 10+ years of experience.
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must have experience leading a greenfield systems or infrastructure initiative from architecture through production delivery.
  • Must have experience managing software engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, and coaching.
  • Must have deep networking data plane expertise and experience designing or leading high-performance packet processing systems.
  • Must have strong knowledge of Linux systems, concurrency, memory management, and performance optimization.
  • Must have experience with network virtualization and core concepts like packet forwarding, routing, and encapsulation.
  • Substantial experience designing, delivering, or operating storage systems or data planes (preferred).
  • Experience with block storage, NVMe, RDMA, or storage I/O optimization (preferred).
  • Experience with DPUs, SmartNICs, P4, or high-performance user-space packet processing frameworks like DPDK (preferred).
  • Knowledge of hardware/software co-design, including PCIe, DMA, SR-IOV, and IOMMU (preferred).
