Signal Integrity Engineer - Serdes, Satellites (Starlink) joins the Payload Engineering team to manage signal integrity across the entire lifecycle of hardware for satellite connectivity. This role involves ownership of electrical, mechanical, thermal, and antenna/RF engineering intersections. You will perform IP evaluation, package performance assessment, material selection, and PCB layout oversight while troubleshooting and characterizing hardware in production. Key responsibilities include designing and verifying wireline and electro-optical communication systems with high-speed SERDES, DSPs, retimers, and optoelectronics, alongside high-bandwidth memory interfaces like DDR4 and LPDDR5. Candidates should possess expertise in 3D EM simulation tools such as CST, HFSS, or ADS, along with proficiency in Python or C/C++. The role addresses the technical challenge of developing advanced satellite hardware using novel channels, power delivery strategies, and high-speed digital design to ensure reliable broadband communication.
Design, simulate, and verify signal integrity for high-speed SERDES, DSPs, and memory interfaces.
Define specifications for PCB materials and channel subcomponents throughout the product lifecycle.
Optimize transition structures for communication channels from die bump to die bump.
Root cause and resolve issues found during PCB manufacturing, assembly testing, or satellite integration.
Establish best practices, simulation workflows, and test methodologies for Starlink satellite payloads.
Provide technical guidance on signal integrity to engineers across the broader program.
Perform hardware characterization and troubleshooting across all phases of product development.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or physics.
1+ years of experience designing circuits, electronic products, or hardware.
1+ years of experience using 3D EM simulation tools and high-speed digital channel simulators (CST, HFSS, ADS).
1+ years of research or industry experience with high-speed digital design.
Master's degree or PhD in electrical engineering or computer engineering with emphasis on electromagnetic theory, transmission line theory, or wireline transceivers (preferred).
3+ years of electronic product experience designing hardware from concept through production (preferred).
3+ years of experience architecting, implementing, and debugging cutting edge DSP based SERDES products (preferred).
3+ years of experience specifying, analyzing, debugging, and working with high speed, high bandwidth memory interfaces (preferred).
Strong understanding of computers and programming languages like Python or C/C++ (preferred).
Experience with low loss laminates, high volume PCB manufacturing, and high-speed connectors (preferred).
Ability to work as a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, or be eligible for required export control authorizations.
