As a Shipyard Installation and Test Specialist for GDMS Field Engineering, you will join a cross-functional team supporting the construction and integration of COLUMBIA Class ballistic missile submarines. You will also manage detailed documentation of installation activities and configuration changes. What you'll do

  • Oversee the installation and integration of mechanical, electrical, and fiber optic components for Fire Control Systems.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate system functionality and performance against Navy and program standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during the installation and testing phases in a shipyard environment.
  • Perform equipment field modifications, inspections, and quality checks to ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of installation activities, including problem reports, test results, and configuration changes.
  • Create or participate in peer reviews of engineering documentation required to support shipyard operations.
  • Communicate technical status and updates to internal engineering teams, shipyard personnel, and government stakeholders.

What we're looking for

  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
  • A Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.
  • A Bachelor's or Technology degree in Engineering or a related field, or a Master's degree, is required.
  • Candidates with a Bachelor's or Technology degree must have 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in system installation, integration, or testing in a shipyard environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics is required.
  • Ability to operate electrical test equipment such as multimeters and insulation resistance testers is preferred.
  • Certification or ability to become certified in crimp, solder, wire wrap, and fiber optic skills is preferred.
