Senior UX Researcher

What you'll do

• Lead end-to-end research on AI experiences within Windows from initial framing through post-launch learning.
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to translate user needs into technical decisions regarding model behavior and system design.
• Anticipate future product changes driven by AI to influence decision-making before features are finalized.
• Establish methodologies for studying non-deterministic AI systems using qualitative insights, telemetry, and model evaluation signals.
• Define standards for what constitutes high-quality AI experiences by balancing model behavior with user behavior.
• Build credibility with leadership to ensure research findings directly influence product and engineering decisions.
• Mentor other researchers and establish shared standards to raise the overall craft bar of the team.

What we're looking for

• A Doctorate, Master's, or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (HCI, CS, Information Science, etc.) with 1 to 4+ years of UX research experience.
• Equivalent professional experience to the specified education and experience requirements.
• Technical understanding of how modern AI models and pipelines work through hands-on work or applied research.
• Experience partnering directly with engineers or applied scientists on AI or ML products (preferred).
• Direct experience with model fine-tuning, evaluation frameworks, or trust and safety research (preferred).
• Master's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Cognitive Science, Information Science, or related field (preferred).
