Senior Tracking Software Engineer, Space

What you'll do

• Architect and implement advanced 2D/3D tracking algorithms for space objects using state estimation and data association techniques.
• Design multi-target tracking and multi-sensor fusion approaches for EO/IR, RF, or hybrid sensor architectures.
• Develop physics-based models and conduct Monte Carlo analysis to validate tracking performance in complex environments.
• Transition tracking algorithms from MATLAB and Python prototypes into production-ready C++ code for real-time systems.
• Lead the systems engineering lifecycle including requirements decomposition, trade studies, and formal design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR).
• Serve as a subject matter expert to advise leadership on algorithm performance, risks, and technical opportunities.
• Mentor engineers in tracking theory, state estimation, and best practices for software development.

What we're looking for

• Must possess and be able to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience designing, implementing, and testing multi-target tracking algorithms for aerospace, defense, or autonomous systems.
• Demonstrated technical leadership in tracking algorithm development, including mentoring team members and serving as a subject matter expert.
• Deep expertise in state estimation techniques, including Kalman Filters (EKF, UKF) and Interacting Multiple Model filters.
• Proficiency in developing algorithms using MATLAB and Python with experience transitioning those algorithms to production C++ code.
• Extensive experience with modeling, simulation, and testing workflows, including Monte Carlo analysis and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Strong communication skills for presenting technical concepts to engineers, program managers, and customers.
