TL;DR · Senior System Security Engineer

As a Senior System Security Engineer (SSE), you will join the engineering team to perform security analysis, requirements, design, and verification for subsystem and component-level elements within U.S. weapon systems. You will develop and maintain security requirements, evaluate system architectures for reverse-engineering and cyber-exploitation vulnerabilities, and document countermeasure recommendations in white papers. Your daily work involves executing test plans for functional verification including CPU, interconnect, eFPGA, and power isolation while contributing to CI/CD test environments. The role requires expertise in embedded systems such as microcontrollers, FPGA-based SoCs, ASICs, and workstation-grade single-board computers. You will utilize knowledge of cryptographic algorithms, hardware and software architectures, and operating systems to mitigate threats. This position addresses critical security challenges within the defense sector by protecting complex weapon systems against both physical and virtual threat vectors.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain security requirements by eliciting, deriving, and tracing customer and system needs.
  • Evaluate system architectures for vulnerabilities related to reverse-engineering and cyber-exploitation.
  • Document vulnerabilities, threats, and countermeasure recommendations in white papers and analysis reports.
  • Create system-level security design artifacts to address identified risks in U.S. weapon systems.
  • Develop and execute test plans for functional verification of hardware components like CPUs and FPGAs.
  • Perform hands-on integration, test development, troubleshooting, and results analysis for embedded systems.
  • Contribute to CI/CD environments to enable automated hardware and software testing.
  • Prepare technical materials and participate in design reviews with customers and government agencies.

What we're looking for

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field, plus 5 years of experience; or a Master's degree plus 3 years of experience.
  • Practical knowledge of vulnerabilities and countermeasures across embedded systems including microcontrollers, FPGA-based SoCs, ASICs, and workstation-grade single-board computers.
  • Experience with ASIC or SoC design and verification, particularly system-level security architecture and integration (preferred).
  • More than five years of demonstrated embedded-systems security design experience; DoD embedded-systems security experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of cryptographic algorithms, their implementation vulnerabilities, and countermeasures.
  • Strong understanding of computer hardware and software architectures including CPUs, FPGAs, operating systems, and user-space application runtime environments.
