The Senior System and Hardware Validation Engineer joins the Data Center AI System Hardware and Validation Engineering team to develop rack-level AI inference solutions for next-generation, liquid-cooled data centers. This role involves leading the execution of rack-scale designs within a matrixed organization, managing requirements, schedules, and deliverables from concept through production. Key responsibilities include owning integration plans for compute nodes, PCIe fabrics, networking, storage, power delivery, and cooling. The engineer will drive firmware, software, and hardware co-design, aligning BIOS, BMC, Redfish, and telemetry requirements with hardware schedules. Required skills include experience with server technologies, board design, SIPI, thermal, and mechanical aspects. Candidates should be proficient with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, JIRA, Confluence, and Agile methods to manage complex program lifecycles and defect tracking.
Lead the execution of next-generation rack-scale designs across multiple global teams and sites.
Define and manage project requirements, scope, schedules, and deliverables for engineering partners.
Own rack-level integration plans for compute nodes, PCIe fabrics, networking, storage, and power delivery.
Drive firmware, software, and hardware co-design to align BIOS and telemetry requirements with hardware schedules.
Lead cross-functional design and readiness reviews for architecture, thermal, mechanical, and manufacturing components.
Coordinate platform-level debug and instrumentation to accelerate failure analysis and improve system observability.
Establish triage mechanisms to prioritize defects and drive issues to root cause and verified closure.
Track program-level KPIs and publish executive dashboards regarding schedule health, build quality, and reliability.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 1+ year of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of experience in systems or hardware engineering, hardware project lifecycle management, and technical product/program management (preferred).
Experience with rack level systems and components (preferred).
Experience managing technical programs across cross-functional teams in large, matrixed organizations (preferred).
Experience with server technologies including board design, SIPI, thermal, mechanical, BIOS, BMC, and networking (preferred).
Experience working with CMs, OEMs, ODMs, and suppliers in product development (preferred).
