As a Senior Specialist, Software Engineering (Full Stack) on the Special Projects team, you will support the Maintenance of Space Situational Awareness Integrated Capabilities program. Your daily responsibilities include developing backend services, APIs, and web interfaces while guiding code reviews, software testing, and secure development practices. You will work with a technology stack including Java, Python, TypeScript, and JavaScript to build service-oriented architectures and microservices. Additional experience may involve C/C++, Rust, Go, GTK, Qt, Kubernetes, and message-bus technologies like Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ. This role solves critical integration challenges across distributed systems to provide essential capabilities for space domain awareness.

What you'll do

Lead the technical design and implementation of full-stack software capabilities including backend services and web interfaces.
Develop scalable software using Java, Python, TypeScript, and JavaScript for microservices-based systems.
Define secure integration patterns, service contracts, and data exchanges across distributed systems.
Conduct code reviews, manage software testing, and oversee technical documentation and secure development practices.
Resolve complex software and integration issues across development, test, and deployment environments.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to software engineers to support sound engineering decisions.
Coordinate technical dependencies with partner teams and contribute to delivery planning and execution.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience, a graduate degree and 4 years of experience, or no degree and 10 years of experience.
Active Secret Security Clearance.
Experience developing production software using Java, Python, TypeScript, and JavaScript (preferred).
Experience designing and integrating service-oriented architectures, asynchronous messaging patterns, and microservices-based applications (preferred).
Experience designing APIs, service contracts, and integrations for distributed systems (preferred).
Experience leading technical design, code reviews, automated testing, and software-delivery activities (preferred).
Experience with containerized applications in Kubernetes or event-streaming technologies like Kafka, RabbitMQ, ZeroMQ, or NATS (preferred).
