Senior Specialist, Software Engineering 1 1 joins the Ground Software and Image Science team to support Space Ground Solutions. This role involves developing modular services and REST endpoints within a classified environment to support customization and UI teams. The engineer will design and implement new backend services, maintain existing features, create technical documentation, and participate in code reviews and Technical Exchange Meetings. Key responsibilities include managing software through configuration management processes while ensuring solutions meet specific mission, security, and performance requirements. The required technology stack includes Java (preferably 11+), PostgreSQL, Linux, Maven, Git, and Jenkins. Preferred skills include JBoss/Wildfly, RESTful services, message-driven beans, CDI, and scripting in Bash, Groovy, or Python. Additional domain expertise involves C++, geospatial data, satellite imagery, NITF/TIFF formats, GeoJSON, and OGC web services like WFS/WMS to solve national security challenges.
Design and implement new backend services to support customization and UI teams.

What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field and six years’ experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI or SCI eligibility.
Experience with Java (preferably version 11 or newer).
Experience with SQL (preferably PostgreSQL) and Linux.
Experience with unit testing (preferably JUnit and Mockito), Git, and Maven.
Experience with continuous integration tools like Jenkins and collaboration software like Bitbucket or GitLab.
Experience in Java Enterprise development, RESTful services, message-driven beans, and CDI (preferred).
