Senior Specialist, Software Engineering (Embedded) joins the Agile Development Group to develop software for embedded targeted hardware. This role involves designing software based on requirements and system level design documents while collaborating with test engineers to influence automation. The engineer will apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware, firmware, and software. Key responsibilities include investigating root causes of complex issues, participating in all phases of the software development life cycle, creating test plans, and performing peer reviews. The role requires proficiency in C++, experience with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS), and knowledge of Linux. Preferred skills include Greenhills RTOS, Modern C++ techniques, Board Support Packages, and Agile Scrum/Kanban processes. The work focuses on advanced Unmanned Air Systems, radar systems, weapon systems, and RF sensor technologies.
Design and develop software based on requirements documents and system level design specifications.
Implement C++ code for embedded Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and evaluate hardware, firmware, and software interfaces.
Investigate root causes of complex technical issues and implement effective solutions independently or in teams.
Execute all phases of the software development life cycle including requirements analysis, integration, and formal testing.
Create software test plans, procedures, and other relevant technical documentation.
Use modeling tools and equipment to conduct experimental tests and evaluate prototype results.
Participate in peer reviews to identify, track, and repair software defects.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field with 6 years of experience, OR a Graduate Degree with 4 years of experience, OR 10 years of experience without a degree.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the computer/software engineering field.
Minimum of 5 years of C++ development in a professional environment.
Active US Secret Clearance.
Experience developing and testing real-time embedded software (preferred).
Familiarity with Greenhills RTOS (preferred).
Experience developing device drivers and Board Support Packages for real-time embedded systems (preferred).
