Senior Specialist, Electrical Engineering - FPGA Engineer will join the Airborne Solutions team to develop, simulate, and integrate specialized firmware designs for flight avionics systems. Additionally, the role requires expertise in high-speed serial protocols like PCIe and Ethernet, network protocols such as IPv6 and UDP, and control protocols including I2C, SPI, and RS-232/422 to solve complex avionics challenges.

What you'll do

Decompose and allocate system and box-level requirements to specific FPGA specifications.
Architect and implement digital solutions on various FPGA platforms to meet technical requirements.
Develop, simulate, and integrate specialized firmware designs for flight avionics systems.
Lead a team of engineers through coding, simulation, code analysis, and circuit card design support.
Perform bench-level system integration involving hardware, software, and multiple FPGA designs.
Manage the full life cycle development and integration of VHDL into different FPGA families.
Support proposal efforts to define detailed system requirements and manage project plans for production release.
Provide mentoring to junior engineers and troubleshoot fielded products for customers.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience, a graduate degree and 4 years of experience, or no degree and 10 years of experience.
Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
Experience coding in VHDL and modeling algorithms for FPGA-based modules.
Experience with Altera or Xilinx FPGA architectures (preferred).
Experience with high-speed serial protocols such as PCI Express, SRIO, and Ethernet (preferred).
Experience designing 10G Ethernet based Network Interface Designs (preferred).
Experience with network protocols including IPv6 and UDP (preferred).
U.S. citizens.
