The Senior Software Engineer SRE - Connectivity joins the Software Services team to drive the reliability, scalability, and performance of critical software systems. This role involves monitoring connectivity issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing proactive measures across all vehicle programs and test environments. You will develop automation tools and test infrastructure to streamline software deployment and configuration management while optimizing system performance. Key responsibilities include collaborating with development teams to incorporate reliability into software designs and mentoring other engineers. Required technical skills include Python, Autobot, and knowledge of embedded systems, vehicle diagnostics, and data communication systems like CAN and Ethernet. The work focuses on solving complex engineering challenges within distributed systems, specifically addressing connectivity, telematics, and infotainment modules to ensure robust performance in production releases.
Monitor software performance and availability to identify and resolve connectivity issues across vehicle programs.
Develop and maintain automation tools and test infrastructure to streamline software deployment and configuration management.
Analyze system performance to identify bottlenecks and implement optimizations for improved scalability.
Conduct root cause analysis on incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
Collaborate with development teams to integrate reliability and scalability considerations into software designs.
Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance the overall performance and reliability of software systems.
Serve as a technical resource and mentor to other engineers on complex system issues.
What we're looking for
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related software subject area, or equivalent work experience.
5+ years of relevant experience.
Working knowledge of embedded systems development and module development processes.
Working knowledge of Python and Autobot for scripting, automation, test execution, and connectivity issue troubleshooting.
Proficiency in vehicle data communication systems, including CAN and Ethernet, and knowledge of vehicle diagnostics.
Understanding of networking and software development in distributed systems.
Demonstrated experience in requirements development, detailed designs, and delivery of production releases.
Master of Science Degree in an engineering field (preferred).
