As a Senior Software Engineer SRE - Connectivity, you will join the Software Services team to drive the reliability, scalability, and performance of critical software systems. You will manage connectivity issue monitoring and troubleshooting across all vehicle programs and test environments while developing automation tools and test infrastructure for deployment and configuration management. Your daily work involves performing root cause analysis, optimizing system performance, and collaborating with development teams to integrate reliability into software designs. The role requires proficiency in Python and Autobot for scripting and automation, along with expertise in CAN, Ethernet, and vehicle diagnostics. You will navigate complex technical challenges involving embedded systems, distributed systems, and networking. Key domain areas include telematics, infotainment, and modules, utilizing technologies such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, Cellular, and V2x simulators to ensure robust system performance.
Monitor and troubleshoot performance and availability issues for software systems across vehicle programs.
Develop and maintain automation tools and test infrastructure to streamline deployment and configuration management.
Analyze system performance to identify bottlenecks and implement optimizations for scalability.
Perform root cause analysis on incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Collaborate with development teams to integrate reliability and scalability into software designs.
Identify process improvements and drive initiatives to enhance overall system performance.
Serve as a technical resource and mentor to other engineers within the organization.
What we're looking for
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of relevant experience.
Working knowledge of embedded systems development and vehicle diagnostics.
Proficiency in Python and Autobot for scripting, automation, test execution, and troubleshooting.
Proficiency in vehicle data communication systems including CAN and Ethernet.
Experience with distributed systems networking and software development.
Demonstrated technical leadership to comprehend complex systems and communicate them to others.
Master of Science degree in an engineering field (preferred); experience with GM production processes, issue tracking, or connectivity technologies (preferred).
