As a Data Governance Engineer, you will join the Data Governance team to ensure data integrity, trustworthiness, and effective management of company assets. You will perform hands-on engineering by writing production-quality code in Python and Terraform to build automation for governance processes, develop trust scorecards, and implement quality frameworks. Your role involves creating policies for data classification and lifecycle management while ensuring compliance with SOX and other regulatory standards. You will also advocate for AI tooling to automate workflows and improve data context for downstream applications. The work focuses on solving complex problems in the fintech space, specifically regarding risk reduction and establishing data quality as a product discipline. Key technical requirements include proficiency in Python, experience with Snowflake, and knowledge of data catalog platforms to enhance discoverability and metadata richness across the organization.
Write production-quality code in Python and Terraform to automate data governance and quality processes.
Design and implement trust scorecards and quality indicators to provide transparency on data reliability.
Develop and enforce policies for data classification, lifecycle management, and regulatory compliance like SOX.
Build and maintain the data catalog to improve metadata richness, lineage tracking, and discoverability.
Implement upstream governance workflows to ensure data quality at the point of creation.
Lead the adoption of AI tools to automate governance tasks and enhance data context.
Provide technical guidance on design plans from a compliance and data integrity perspective.
What we're looking for
Must have 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data governance, or a related field.
Must possess hands-on experience in data classification, cataloging, quality assurance, and trust frameworks.
Must be proficient in Python or a comparable programming language to build scalable tools and automation pipelines.
Must have experience designing and implementing data governance and quality processes as a core engineering function.
Must demonstrate ability to build data trust signals, quality scorecards, and other reliability indicators for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Must possess strong knowledge of data governance platforms and cloud data warehouses like Snowflake.
Preferred familiarity with SOX, CCPA, and other relevant financial and data privacy regulations.
Must be able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly in both written and verbal forms.
