The Senior Software Engineer, AI Automation joins the AI Automation team to eliminate manual work and improve internal operations. In this senior individual-contributor role, you will lead the design and delivery of production-grade AI agents and workflows that solve complex business problems. You will translate ambiguous requirements into durable technical solutions, defining system architecture, data contracts, and operational standards. Key responsibilities include building reusable agent capabilities, establishing evaluation strategies, and ensuring robust controls for permissions and auditability. You will utilize Python, SQL, and LLM-backed application frameworks, including MCP and tool-integration systems. The role requires expertise in prompting, agentic loops, and production engineering fundamentals like Git, CI/CD, and containers. You will solve the technical challenge of scaling reliable AI automation safely across internal business-critical systems of record.

What we're looking for
7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including substantial recent experience building and shipping LLM-backed applications used by real users.
Demonstrated experience taking AI agents or multi-step automation workflows from prototype through reliable production operation.
Strong Python engineering skills and practical SQL expertise, including the ability to work directly with production data models.
Deep experience with prompting, tool use, agentic loops, structured outputs, multi-step workflows, error handling, and production deployment.
Experience designing and operating systems that integrate with business-critical systems of record.
Solid production engineering fundamentals across Git, CI/CD, containers, deployment, monitoring, testing, permissions, and rollback.
Experience building or maintaining MCP servers, agent platforms, or reusable tool/skill frameworks (preferred).
Experience in insurance, fintech, cybersecurity, or another regulated environment where correctness and traceability are impactful (preferred).
