Senior Scientist II, Technical Operations

What you'll do

• Manage technical projects for processes entering the API Pilot Plant including scheduling, equipment selection, and safety analysis.
• Partner with project teams to optimize chemical processes for scale-up and identify appropriate equipment configurations.
• Provide technical oversight and troubleshooting during production campaigns in the API Pilot Plant.
• Act as the primary point of contact between manufacturing, quality assurance, and environmental health and safety departments.
• Develop data-driven models to facilitate successful process scale-up and technology transfer.
• Identify and implement new technologies such as automation, flow chemistry, and Process Analytical Technology (PAT).
• Support the technical transfer of late-stage processes to commercial manufacturing sites.
• Review and document data for cGMP execution while authoring campaign summary reports.

What we're looking for

• BS, MS, or PhD in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry with 10, 8, or 4 years of relevant experience respectively.
• Experience in process development and strong working knowledge of unit operations for small molecule synthesis.
• Demonstrated experience scaling chemical processes from the laboratory to the pilot plant.
• Solid understanding of fundamental chemical scale-up and process safety principles.
• Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB, Python, C++, COMSOL, Scale-Up Suite, or M-Star.
• 3+ years of experience in pharmaceutical development or scaling processes from lab to pilot scale (preferred).
• Experience partnering with EHS for the scale-up of safe processes (preferred).
• Advanced understanding of chemical processing engineering principles (preferred).
