The Senior RF Engineer joins the Neuromodulation team to lead the design, development, and verification of wireless RF systems for implantable and external medical devices. This role focuses on creating Bluetooth Low Energy communication solutions, where the engineer will design RF circuits, matching networks, antenna systems, and wireless architectures while ensuring performance and regulatory compliance. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing RF simulation and modeling, executing conducted and over-the-air testing, conducting root cause analysis for complex issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate technologies into medical platforms. The role requires expertise in tools like vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators, alongside skills in HFSS or CST. Candidates must navigate the complexities of low-power systems and regulatory standards such as FCC, ISED, ETSI, and Bluetooth SIG within a regulated product development environment.
Design, analyze, and document RF circuits, matching networks, antenna systems, and wireless architectures for medical devices.
Lead the development of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication solutions for implantable and external products.
Perform RF simulation, modeling, and analysis using industry-standard tools to optimize wireless performance.
Execute RF characterization, verification, and validation tests including conducted and over-the-air (OTA) testing.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for complex RF and wireless communication issues.
Partner with suppliers and manufacturing organizations to support component selection and design for manufacturability.
Manage wireless regulatory compliance activities for FCC, ISED, ETSI, and Bluetooth SIG requirements.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 5 years of experience in RF, wireless communication, or a related engineering field.
Experience in RF circuit design, wireless system development, and RF verification testing.
Experience with RF matching network design, antenna development, and wireless performance optimization.
Proficiency with measurement equipment including VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
Experience developing and executing RF characterization, verification, and validation testing.
Experience working in a regulated product development environment.
7+ years of experience developing wireless products and RF systems (preferred); experience with Class III medical devices or implantable products (preferred).
