Senior Research Engineer, AI Coding Tools

What you'll do

• Build and improve novel coding agents to help developers write and optimize CUDA code.
• Design and ship evaluations and benchmarks to measure AI-powered CUDA development performance.
• Fine-tune and specialize code LLMs in partnership with the Nemotron foundation model team.
• Develop Agent Skills and MCP servers to integrate NVIDIA developer tools into AI workflows.
• Generate, curate, and validate synthetic training and evaluation data for CUDA programming.
• Deliver new knowledge to frontier LLMs through RAG and skill-based systems.
• Partner with product teams to transition research prototypes into shipping features for customers.

What we're looking for

• B.S. in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience.
• M.S. or Ph.D. (preferred).
• 12+ years of industry experience in applied AI/ML with recent work in the AI-for-code space.
• Strong proficiency in Python and sound software engineering practices.
• Hands-on experience fine-tuning or evaluating LLMs.
• Fluency with the systems side of LLM-powered agents, including context management, prompt caching, and tool-use design.
• Experience designing or contributing to rigorous evaluations for code generation or agentic systems.
• Track record of shipping work past the prototype stage into the hands of real users.
• Public contributions in the AI-for-code space (preferred).
• Familiarity with CUDA, GPU programming, or NVIDIA profiling tools and libraries (preferred).
