Senior Advanced AI Research Engineer

What you'll do

• Investigate innovation frontiers in agentic AI including memory architectures, inference routing, and long-horizon task reliability.
• Design and execute rigorous benchmarking methodologies for tool use, multi-step reasoning, and failure recovery.
• Analyze efficiency frontiers to reduce inference costs and manage context at scale for commercial hardware.
• Translate research findings into production-grade Python services, Node.js/TypeScript SDK modules, and platform components.
• Build pluggable backends for memory stores, retrieval layers, and routing modules to allow independent iteration.
• Instrument research prototypes with distributed tracing, cost accounting, and latency metrics for reproducible results.
• Integrate validated research capabilities into production systems using standard engineering workflows like CI and schema validation.
• Identify platform gaps and raise concrete engineering proposals for missing APIs or insufficient observability.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with Python and/or Node.js/TypeScript building production backend services or AI/ML systems.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with AI or ML systems like LLMs, agent frameworks, or retrieval architectures.
• 3+ years of applied research experience translating findings into platform-integrated or published artefacts.
• Deep experience in at least one area of applied AI systems research (preferred).
• 6+ years of engineering experience across both research and production contexts (preferred).
• Hands-on experience with async Python, containerisation, Kubernetes, vector/relational databases, and distributed tracing.
