The candidate will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to mitigate failure modes and manage hardware durability. Required expertise includes proficiency in MIL-STD standards, root-cause analysis methodologies like 8D or Fishbone, and experience with HALT/HASS testing. This role solves critical reliability challenges for complex autonomous systems by embedding data-driven engineering decisions into the early design architecture.

What you'll do

  • Conduct FMECA and Fault Tree analyses to identify and mitigate potential failure modes in product designs.
  • Perform predictive reliability analyses using industry standards to forecast field failures and determine MTTF/MTBF.
  • Develop maintainability prediction models and support the creation of preventative maintenance and sparing plans.
  • Analyze field failure data using Weibull analysis to refine reliability models and improve future predictions.
  • Investigate root causes of time-based failures with hardware teams and labs to guide design iterations.
  • Model physical and functional degradation parameters to predict end-of-life thresholds before failures occur.
  • Develop statistical models to project warranty claims and provide data-driven risk assessments for various teams.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience in a hardware-focused Reliability Engineer, Design/Development Engineer, or Quality Engineering role with an emphasis on life data analysis.
  • Expertise in reliability analysis techniques including FMEA/FMECA, predictive modeling, Weibull analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-516C, and MIL-STD-1629 standards.
  • Experience setting up reliability engineering frameworks including production testing, field testing, data acquisition, and analysis.
  • Familiarity with structured root-cause analysis methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, or Kepner-Tregoe within a CAPA or FRACAS framework.
  • Experience with design reviews (PDR, CDR, MRR) and strong presentation skills for leadership communication.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
