Senior Hardware Reliability Engineer The Senior Hardware Reliability Engineer joins the Reliability Engineering team to ensure autonomous systems survive real-world conditions and deliver consistent performance across the product lifecycle. This role focuses on the Imaging product line, where the engineer serves as a reliability champion from early concept design through manufacturing transition. Key responsibilities include performing FMECA and Fault Tree analyses, conducting predictive reliability modeling using MIL-HDBK-217Plus and MIL-HDBK-472, executing design verification test plans, and performing Weibull analyses on field failure data. The candidate will also manage stress-derating analysis, track physical degradation parameters, and collaborate with hardware teams to investigate root causes of failures. Required expertise includes proficiency in MIL-STD standards, structured problem-solving methodologies like 8D or Fishbone diagrams, and experience with HALT, HASS, and environmental testing for complex systems including EO/IR technologies.

What you'll do

  • Conduct FMECA and Fault Tree analyses to identify and mitigate potential failure modes in product designs.
  • Perform predictive reliability analyses using industry standards to forecast field failures and calculate MTTF/MTBF.
  • Develop maintainability prediction models and support the creation of preventative maintenance and sparing plans.
  • Analyze field failure data using Weibull analysis to refine reliability models and improve future predictions.
  • Track physical and functional degradation parameters over time to predict end-of-life thresholds before failures occur.
  • Collaborate with hardware teams and labs to investigate root causes of failures and guide design iterations.
  • Develop statistical models to project warranty claims and provide data-driven risk assessments for internal stakeholders.
  • Create and communicate RAM reports to both internal engineering teams and external partners.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience in a hardware-focused Reliability Engineer, Design/Development Engineer, or Quality Engineering role with an emphasis on life data analysis.
  • Expertise in reliability analysis techniques including FMEA/FMECA, predictive modeling, Weibull analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Familiarity with military standards such as MIL-STD-810, MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-516C, and MIL-STD-1629.
  • Experience setting up reliability engineering frameworks including support for production testing, field testing, data acquisition, and analysis.
  • Familiarity with structured root-cause analysis methodologies like 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, or Kepner-Tregoe within a CAPA or FRACAS framework.
  • Experience in design reviews (PDR, CDR, MRR) and confident presentation skills across all levels of leadership.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
