As a Senior Principal SDE within the DC Software and Automation organization, you will provide technical leadership to design, build, and operate software powering the full data center lifecycle. This role involves architecting distributed services for planning, design, building, and operations while managing end-to-end feature delivery from initial design through production rollout. You will work in a builder-operator model, ensuring high reliability and scalability for infrastructure supporting AI capabilities. Key responsibilities include conducting architecture reviews, improving CI/CD pipelines, and reducing operational toil through automation and observability tools like metrics, logs, and tracing. The role requires proficiency in Java, Python, Go, or JavaScript, along with expertise in REST APIs and multi-tenant services. You will solve complex problems regarding data center delivery and operations while collaborating on networking, security, identity, storage, and release engineering systems.
Architect and operate distributed services to support the full data center lifecycle including planning, design, building, and operations.
Own end-to-end feature delivery from initial design through production rollout, testing strategy, and operational readiness.
Execute a builder-operator model by developing software, participating in on-call rotations, and driving reliability improvements based on incident data.
Lead technical reviews for architecture and functional designs while ensuring all systems are secure by default and easily supportable.
Improve engineering velocity by strengthening code review practices, increasing automated test coverage, and enhancing CI/CD pipelines.
Reduce operational toil by implementing automation, self-service capabilities, and robust observability tools like metrics, logs, and tracing.
Mentor engineers across various levels to establish high standards for operational excellence and proactive service ownership.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions for networking, security, identity, and storage infrastructure.
What we're looking for
Applicants must be able to read, write, and speak English.
The role requires 6 to 10+ years of experience.
A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or Computer Engineering is preferred (preferred).
10+ years of full stack software development including design, implementation, and operation of distributed services is preferred (preferred).
Experience owning production services end-to-end in a builder-operator model is preferred (preferred).
Proficiency in Java, Python, Go, or JavaScript is preferred (preferred).
Expertise designing REST APIs and building multi-tenant services is preferred (preferred).
A good understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage concepts, and distributed persistence technologies is preferred (preferred).
