TL;DR · Senior Performance Architect

The Senior Performance Architect joins the Compute Silicon and Manufacturing Organization team to develop performance modeling methodologies for cloud infrastructure. In this role, you will create and own cycle-accurate or approximate System on Chip (SOC) and Intellectual Property (IP) performance models and analysis tools using C++ and Python. You will collaborate with Micro-architects and Register Transfer Level teams to identify bottlenecks, propose architectural changes based on quantitative justification, and verify the correlation of SOC performance models to RTL implementations. The role involves leveraging AI tools for coding, performance tuning, and analysis to ensure systems are performant and efficient. Key technical domains include computer architecture, memory subsystems, coherency flows, interconnects, and Quality of Service traffic. You will solve complex problems related to optimizing cloud hardware manufacturing and infrastructure through advanced silicon development workflows.

What you'll do

  • Create and own cycle-accurate or approximate performance models for SoC and IP in C++ and Python.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks by analyzing workload information in coordination with Micro-architects and RTL teams.
  • Propose architectural and microarchitectural changes supported by quantitative justification.
  • Utilize AI tools and infrastructure for performance modeling, coding, tuning, and analysis.
  • Verify the correlation between SoC performance models and actual RTL implementations.
  • Partner with SoC and IP architecture teams to ensure systems are performant and efficient.

What we're looking for

  • A Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 1+ year of technical engineering experience.
  • A Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 4+ years of technical engineering experience.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 5+ years of technical engineering experience.
  • Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check and meet government security screening requirements.
  • Eligibility to access export-controlled information under U.S. and international regulations.
  • 3+ years of experience developing SOC or IP performance models and benchmarks from conception to microarchitecture specification.
  • Deep understanding of computer architecture, System on Chip (SOC), and system-software architectures with knowledge of performance tradeoffs.
  • Significant understanding of I/O, memory subsystems, coherency flows, interconnects, and Quality of Service traffic.
