What you'll do

Manage the Unified Observability team’s staffing, prioritization, execution rhythm, and quality standards.
Translate product strategy into an executable roadmap by partnering with Product Management and design teams.
Negotiate cross-team dependencies regarding data ingestion, query performance, and cost boundaries.
Resolve project blockers and make critical trade-offs regarding scope, sequencing, and risk to ensure on-time delivery.
Oversee operational health including on-call practices, incident response, and production reliability for the platform.
Integrate AI-assisted engineering into the development lifecycle for tasks like scaffolding, testing, and code reviews.
Mentor engineers on using AI tools effectively while ensuring high standards of human verification.
Develop internal tooling and agents to automate repetitive engineering tasks such as PR triage and log analysis.

What we're looking for

Must have 8+ years of software engineering experience.
Must have 4+ years of experience directly managing engineering teams.
Proven track record of shipping complex, cross-team distributed systems and owning delivery outcomes end-to-end.
Experience hiring, growing, and managing performance for engineers across various seniority levels.
Strong technical judgment to conduct deep design reviews and code reviews.
Ability to partner with Product and engineering staff to turn ambiguous problems into a sequenced roadmap.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to represent team priorities to senior stakeholders.
Experience in observability, monitoring, telemetry pipelines, or SRE tools (preferred); familiarity with OpenTelemetry and high-cardinality metrics (preferred).
