The Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering will lead the Pension and Investment Management technology organization. This leader manages multiple platform teams responsible for the stability and performance of established on-premises systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include hiring, coaching, and performance management while owning portfolio delivery, including planning, release management, and incident resolution. The role involves managing the data warehouse and reporting estate, overseeing ETL processes, and ensuring audit readiness in a regulated environment. The candidate must utilize SQL Server, Java, COBOL, Linux, Mainframe, and .NET technologies. Core competencies include relational database design, dimensional modeling, and data reconciliation. The position solves complex technical problems within investment management, finance, and risk analytics, requiring the translation of business priorities into executable technical plans for long-standing enterprise applications and third-party data integrations.

What you'll do

  • Lead and manage multiple engineering teams supporting on-premises SQL Server, Java, COBOL, Linux, and Mainframe platforms.
  • Own day-to-day delivery including planning, prioritization, release management, and execution of business-driven technical changes.
  • Ensure platform stability through production support, incident management, root-cause analysis, and meeting service-level commitments.
  • Manage the data warehouse and reporting estate, including ETL processes, SQL development, and period-end reporting cycles.
  • Translate business priorities from investment and finance stakeholders into executable technical plans and delivery commitments.
  • Govern change management, security, and audit readiness in compliance with enterprise architecture and privacy standards.
  • Manage vendor and third-party data provider relationships, including integration support and contract-driven obligations.
  • Oversee capacity planning, infrastructure lifecycle needs, patching, and disaster recovery testing for supported environments.

What we're looking for

  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, application engineering, platform engineering, enterprise data warehousing, or related technology leadership roles.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale data warehouse and application teams, preferably with SQL Server, Java, COBOL, Linux, Mainframe, or .NET. (preferred)
  • Strong hands-on understanding of relational database design, dimensional modeling, stored procedures, query tuning, ETL/batch processing, and data reconciliation.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technical teams, developing engineering talent, and leading delivery across complex, multi-stakeholder programs.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise security, access controls, data privacy, audit requirements, production support, and operational resilience.
  • Working knowledge of Java and .NET application environments, including support, troubleshooting, and release practices.
  • Experience in investment management, asset management, insurance, capital markets, financial services, or risk analytics environments. (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
