Senior Manager of Software Engineering

What you'll do

• Provide direction, oversight, and technical coaching for teams of entry-level to mid-level software engineers.
• Manage decisions regarding team resources, budgets, tactical operations, and the implementation of processes.
• Scale operating practices for AI-assisted engineering and SDLC automation to improve delivery speed and quality.
• Establish and monitor measurable expectations for throughput, defect reduction, and system reliability.
• Apply knowledge of SDLC toolchains and AI-assisted development to drive efficiency and capacity unlock initiatives.
• Identify and mitigate issues to execute a book of work while escalating critical problems as necessary.
• Provide leadership with input on budget, technical approach, and operational efficiencies.

What we're looking for

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
• 2+ years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within a domain of expertise.
• Experience leading teams of technologists and guiding them to achieve goals aligned with strategic initiatives.
• Full stack experience with Java, Node.js, postgres, REST, K8, CI/CD, and Cloud (AWS).
• Experience leading multi-team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and delivery tools.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and security implications.
• Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
• In-depth knowledge of the services industry and their IT systems.
• Practical cloud native experience.
• Experience working at code level (preferred).
• Experience with Temporal is a plus (preferred).
• Payments domain experience is preferred (preferred).
