As a Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator, you will join the infrastructure and support teams to manage, optimize, and automate enterprise Db2 for z/OS and IDMS database environments across critical healthcare platforms. Your daily responsibilities include performing SQL performance tuning, access path analysis, index management, and executing database utilities like LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTATS, and REORG. You will also handle structural changes, application releases, Db2 upgrades, migrations, and disaster recovery testing while participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation. The role requires expertise in JCL development, SPUFI, OMEGAMON, and Query Monitor tools. Additionally, you may utilize REXX scripting and support Db2 Distributed environments. You will ensure the reliability and scalability of mission-critical systems by providing technical consultation and managing replication solutions within complex enterprise computing environments to solve core infrastructure challenges.
Administer and support enterprise Db2 z/OS and IDMS databases across production and non-production environments.
Optimize database performance through SQL tuning, access path analysis, index management, and resource utilization analysis.
Develop and implement automation solutions to improve database administration processes and operational efficiency.
Manage database backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery testing activities.
Execute Db2 upgrades, version migrations, RSU maintenance, and various database utility tasks.
Respond to production incidents, change requests, and audit inquiries while participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
Provide technical consultation and knowledge transfer to development, infrastructure, and application teams.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent work experience (HS diploma plus 4 years relevant experience).
At least 5 years of hands-on experience as a Db2 for z/OS Database Administrator.
At least 3 years of experience with Db2 Administration Tools, Query Monitor, OMEGAMON, and Db2 utilities.
At least 3 years of experience with advanced SQL performance tuning, access path analysis, query optimization, and index management in Db2 z/OS environments.
At least 3 years of experience with JCL development, DBA job scheduling, and 24x7 production on-call support in large-scale mainframe environments.
At least 1 year of experience designing, implementing, or supporting database replication solutions in complex enterprise computing environments.
