As a Senior Lead Software Engineer within the CDAO's AI/ML Data Platform team, you will join an agile group focused on building and delivering secure, stable, and scalable technology products. You will provide technical guidance to teams and vendors while developing high-quality production code, reviewing others' work, and influencing product design and technical operations. Your daily responsibilities include operating 24x7 tier-1 online services and driving the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed. You must possess deep expertise in system design and coding for enterprise systems using Rust, Java, Go, or C++. Additionally, you will manage responsible AI usage within engineering workflows. Preferred technical knowledge includes experience with open-source projects in the OLAP data stack, specifically Apache DataFusion, DuckDB, and Apache Arrow Flight SQL.

What you'll do

Develop secure, high-quality production code while reviewing and debugging code written by others.
Provide technical guidance and direction to business teams, contractors, and vendors.
Build and operate 24x7, tier-1 online services in a stable and scalable manner.
Drive the adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams.
Establish measurable validation standards for secure coding, peer review, and automated testing.
Influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations through expert decision-making.
Advocate for firmwide frameworks, tools, and software development lifecycle practices within the engineering community.
Solve complex system design and functionality problems independently with minimal oversight.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts.
5+ years of applied experience in software engineering.
Strong core engineering skills including hands-on coding and system design for modern enterprise systems.
Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Rust, Java, Go, or C++.
Proven track record building and operating 24x7, tier-1 online services.
Experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools for coding, review, and troubleshooting.
Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows including data sensitivity and security controls.
