Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Database Platform

What you'll do

• Write high-quality code to build and extend the database management control plane.
• Manage and operate the global database infrastructure built on YugabyteDB.
• Debug complex distributed-systems failures and improve overall system reliability.
• Build and automate backup systems, including snapshots and verification processes.
• Develop internal tools for configuration management, data migrations, and schema changes.
• Create database safety and performance guardrails for application teams.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to handle production incidents and escalations.
• Manage third-party tools like PgBouncer and infrastructure components.

What we're looking for

• Ability to write high-quality code in a high-level programming language such as Go or Ruby.
• Experience or interest in configuration management and proficiency working in a Linux shell.
• Experience with relational databases, PostgreSQL internals, distributed databases, or database reliability engineering.
• Experience with a cloud platform such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with Site Reliability engineering/DevOps practices or as a software engineer interested in infrastructure work.
• Experience working on a remote or distributed engineering team.
• Experience participating in an on-call rotation and/or site/database reliability engineering (SRE/DRE).
• Strong technical mentorship skills and a dedication to psychological safety in the workplace.
