Senior Database Reliability Engineer

What you'll do

• Design and operate highly available PostgreSQL clusters including replication, sharding, and failover automation.
• Optimize query performance, indexing strategies, schema designs, and storage engines for large-scale systems.
• Perform capacity planning, growth forecasting, and workload modeling for the data persistence layer.
• Develop automated tooling for provisioning, configuration, backups, and vacuum tuning using Terraform or Ansible.
• Build monitoring, alerting, and self-healing systems for PostgreSQL and MySQL environments.
• Lead incident response for performance regressions, replication lag, deadlocks, and storage failures.
• Conduct root-cause analysis of database issues and implement permanent technical fixes.
• Partner with software engineers to review SQL, optimize schemas, and provide guidance on migration best practices.

What we're looking for

• Must have at least 4 years of hands-on PostgreSQL experience in high-volume or large-scale production environments.
• Must possess deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals including WAL, MVCC, vacuum tuning, and query planning.
• Must have production experience with MySQL, specifically regarding InnoDB internals, replication, and performance tuning.
• Must possess advanced SQL skills and a strong understanding of schema design and query optimization.
• Must have experience with Linux systems, networking fundamentals, and system troubleshooting.
• Must have experience building automation using Go or Python.
• Must have production experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or PMM.
• U.S. Citizen, National, Lawful Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee.
