The Senior Information Systems Security Engineer joins a small team providing Information Assurance Architecture Analysis and Security Engineering Support for the National Leadership Command Capability. This role supports Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications, Continuity of Government, and Senior Leader communications. You will perform in a consultant-like capacity, delivering threat-informed cybersecurity products including risk assessments, architecture reviews, and engineering guidance. Daily tasks involve designing and integrating security systems for networking, computing, and enclave environments with varying data classification requirements. You will evaluate emerging technologies, conduct requirements gap analyses, and ensure compliance with Agency security policy. Required expertise includes the Risk Management Framework, NIST Special Publications 800 Series, CNSSI 1253, and DoD 8500. Necessary skills include CISSP or CASP certification, network technology, and experience with Zero Trust and Cloud Computing.
Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments and provide prioritized mitigation recommendations to support the customer's mission.
Design, implement, and operate real-time capabilities to discover, detect, analyze, and mitigate threats.
Analyze candidate architectures against security requirements to identify gaps and provide mitigation strategies.
Develop and integrate IA and security systems for networking, computing, and multi-enclave environments.
Validate and verify system security requirements and establish comprehensive system security designs.
Review C&A documentation to ensure content completeness and compliance with security standards.
Research and evaluate emerging technologies to determine their cybersecurity effectiveness for the mission.
Assist developers in implementing security functionality to ensure uniform application of Agency security policy.
What we're looking for
Active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance is required.
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 14 years of experience as an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) or System Engineer on programs and/or contracts with the customer.
CISSP or CASP certification is required.
Expertise in the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and conducting cybersecurity risk assessments.
Expertise in network technology and systems security engineering.
Knowledge of and practical experience with NIST Special Publications 800 Series, CNSSI 1253, and DoD 8500.
Experience with emerging technologies such as Zero Trust and Cloud Computing (preferred).
