The Information Systems Security Engineer will support a customer onsite by performing technical security assessments of computing environments to identify vulnerabilities and non-compliance with IA standards. The role involves validating system security requirements, designing and integrating security components for networking and enclave environments, and building security into systems deployed to operational environments. Key responsibilities include assessing threats throughout the program life cycle, reviewing C&A documentation, and enforcing trusted relations among external systems. The position requires expertise in routers, firewalls, IPS, and IDS, alongside knowledge of NIST Special Publications 800 Series, CNSSI 1253, and DoD 8500. Candidates must possess CASP+ or CISSP certifications and demonstrate proficiency in network protocols, communications systems, and architectures to ensure uniform application of Agency security policy.
Perform technical security assessments of computing environments to identify vulnerabilities and non-compliance with IA standards.
Validate and verify system security requirements definitions and establish system security designs.
Design, develop, and integrate IA and security systems for networking, computing, and enclave environments.
Build information assurance into systems deployed in operational environments.
Identify and implement security functionality to ensure uniform application of Agency security policy.
Assess and mitigate system security threats and risks throughout the program life cycle.
Review C&A documentation to ensure completeness and compliance with established regulations.
Implement security and network components including routers, firewalls, IPS, and IDS.
What we're looking for
Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance is required.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 7+ years of experience as an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) or Network Engineer on programs and/or contracts with the customer space.
4 additional years of experience in lieu of a technical degree will be accepted.
CASP+ or CISSP certification is a firm requirement.
Strong writing skills and the ability to present briefings to senior-level DoD officials.
Working knowledge of security and network components including routers, firewalls, IPS, and IDS.
Experience with NIST Special Publications 800 Series, CNSSI 1253, and DoD 8500.
