The Principal Information Systems Security Engineer joins a small team providing Information Assurance Architecture Analysis and Security Engineering Support for the National Leadership Command Capability. This role supports Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications, Continuity of Government, and Senior Leader communications. The engineer performs a consultant-like role, delivering threat-informed cybersecurity products including risk assessments, architecture reviews, and engineering guidance. Daily tasks involve designing and integrating security systems for networking, computing, and enclave environments with varying data classification requirements. The position requires expertise in the Risk Management Framework, NIST Special Publications 800 Series, CNSSI 1253, and DoD 8500. Key skills include identifying security weaknesses in operating systems, software, and firmware, as well as experience with emerging technologies like Zero Trust and Cloud Computing.
Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments and provide prioritized risk mitigation recommendations for mission partners.
Support the design, implementation, and operation of real-time threat discovery and mitigation capabilities.
Analyze candidate architectures against security requirements to identify gaps and provide mitigation strategies.
Design, develop, and integrate IA and security systems for networking, computing, and enclave environments.
Validate and verify system security requirements definitions and establish system security designs.
Research and evaluate emerging technologies to determine their cybersecurity effectiveness.
Review C&A documentation to ensure content completeness and compliance with security standards.
Assist developers in implementing security functionality to ensure uniform application of Agency security policies.
What we're looking for
Active TS/SCI with polygraph.
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 20 years of experience as an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) or System Engineer on programs and/or contracts with the customer.
Expertise in the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and conducting cybersecurity risk assessments.
Expertise in network technology and systems security engineering.
Knowledge of and practical experience with NIST Special Publications 800 Series, CNSSI 1253, and DoD 8500.
