The Senior Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) Engineer joins the Flight Engineering team to drive the design, development, testing, and implementation of flight system technologies for aerospace systems. This role involves cradle-to-grave ownership of navigation system designs for subsonic, supersonic, and hypersonic autonomous systems, including tactical missiles and strategic weapons. Key responsibilities include performing trade studies, modeling, and simulation to validate navigation stack accuracy, as well as conducting lab and flight tests to integrate advanced sensing modalities. The candidate will develop algorithms for navigation, guidance, and control systems, specifically utilizing Extended Kalman filters and other estimation methods. Required technical skills include proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, and C/C++, alongside expertise in inertial navigation, GPS, and sensor fusion leveraging INS, GNSS, cameras, and LiDAR for accurate navigation in complex environments.

What you'll do

  • Lead navigation system design for Anduril products from initial concept through final implementation.
  • Develop and integrate navigation algorithms, including Extended Kalman filters and other estimation methods.
  • Support and drive the development of advanced sensor fusion algorithms for various domains.
  • Perform trade studies, modeling, and simulations to validate algorithm accuracy and robustness.
  • Conduct lab, motion, and flight tests to evaluate and validate navigation performance.
  • Collect and analyze platform telemetry data to troubleshoot operational anomalies and validate performance.
  • Improve calibration procedures for sensor suites used in aerospace navigation systems.
  • Integrate navigation software and hardware into real-world flight systems across multidisciplinary teams.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret clearance.
  • 3 or more years of experience in Guidance, Navigation & Control engineering or related technical experience.
  • 8 or more years of experience in Guidance, Navigation & Control engineering or related technical experience (for Senior role).
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, and C/C++.
  • Strong knowledge of navigation principles, including inertial navigation and GPS.
  • Experience characterizing, integrating, and testing inertial and non-inertial sensing modalities like INS, GNSS, vision-based, and odometry.
  • Expertise in Kalman filtering, Extended Kalman filtering, and other estimation techniques.
  • Experience with real-time systems and embedded software development.
  • Experience with navigation system design, development, and testing on aerospace systems.
  • Experience optimizing and tuning navigation system performance, error modeling, and system uncertainty assessments.
  • Autonomous air, ground, or undersea vehicle navigation experience focusing on low-cost sensors (preferred).
  • Strong software and hardware integration background, including sensors, harnesses, and PCB design (preferred).
  • Experience adapting and applying real-time pose localization algorithms from robotics (preferred).
  • Experience with 6-DOF vehicle simulation (preferred).
  • GNSS receiver and antenna integration experience (preferred).
