TL;DR

As a Senior FPGA Prototyping Platform Engineer at our Emulation team in Santa Clara, CA, you will be responsible for building and optimizing FPGA prototypes of next-generation GPUs and SOCs on standard prototyping platforms. Your day-to-day tasks include synthesizing designs, performing place-and-route operations, analyzing timing issues, generating bitstreams, and conducting hands-on lab debugging with hardware and software tools. You will also collaborate closely with verification engineers, software teams, and lab technicians to ensure successful prototype releases and provide ongoing support to customers facing technical challenges. The ideal candidate has a strong background in FPGA prototyping, including experience with Synopsys Protocompiler and Xilinx Vivado for backend flows, as well as hands-on debugging methodologies and tools such as ChipScope and oscilloscopes. Experience with high-performance processor or SOC prototyping is highly valued.

What you'll do

  • Build FPGA prototypes through synthesis, place-and-route, and bitstream generation for next-gen GPUs and SOCs.
  • Debug designs on FPGA prototyping platforms using hardware and software debuggers in hands-on lab settings.
  • Release prototypes to customers and provide technical support to resolve any encountered issues promptly.
  • Utilize hardware diagnostics specific to prototyping platforms to isolate problems between hardware and design.
  • Coordinate closely with verification engineers, software teams, and lab technicians to ensure successful prototype development.

What we're looking for

  • BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering with 7+ years, or MS with 5+ years in FPGA prototyping.
  • Proficient in FPGA prototyping hardware architecture and tools like Synopsys Protocompiler and Xilinx Vivado.
  • Hands-on experience with lab tasks including synthesis, place-and-route, and timing closure.
  • Expertise in debugging FPGA prototypes using lab equipment and debug methodologies.
  • Strong coordination skills for working across multiple teams and geographies.
