As a Senior Engineer on the CircleCard Platform team, you will design and build highly scalable, reliable platform capabilities that power critical CircleCard experiences. What you'll do

Design and maintain scalable backend services and platform capabilities using Kotlin, Java, and Micronaut.
Build secure, high-performance REST and GraphQL APIs to support high-volume retail and financial workloads.
Develop event-driven integrations, webhooks, and asynchronous services using Kafka and distributed caching.
Design large-scale data processing systems and file ingestion pipelines for high-volume financial data.
Build production-grade AI-powered applications, domain-specific AI agents, and multi-agent workflows.
Create MCP tools and services to securely expose platform capabilities to AI agents and applications.
Implement RAG solutions and prompt engineering strategies to improve AI application quality and reliability.
Lead technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and code reviews to establish engineering best practices.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise-scale distributed applications, backend services, and platform capabilities.
Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin and/or Java with experience building microservices using Micronaut, Spring Boot, or similar frameworks.
Strong experience designing distributed systems, platform capabilities, service-oriented architectures, and REST/GraphQL APIs.
Experience with Kafka-based event-driven architectures, asynchronous messaging, webhooks, and large-scale data/file processing systems.
Proficiency in Python and experience building AI applications, agentic systems, and RAG solutions using LLMs.
Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architecture patterns.
Strong technical leadership skills including mentoring engineers, leading design discussions, and driving engineering best practices.
