What you'll do

  • Perform electrical design and review for production equipment and facility power at the McHenry plant.
  • Maintain internal electrical standards, drawing conventions, and code compliance across the entire facility.
  • Review and red-line contractor packages including panel layouts, single-line diagrams, and load calculations.
  • Coordinate with construction teams and engineering firms on power distribution, grounding, and equipment hookup.
  • Specify electrical components such as transformers, disconnects, breakers, and VFD feeds for production lines.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, and hazardous location requirements for energetic materials.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions to resolve electrical failures and ensure long-term reliability.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and implement improvements to reduce downtime in the production environment.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • 4+ years of electrical engineering experience in an industrial or production environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 70E electrical safety practices.
  • Experience with industrial power distribution, including transformers, panelboards, circuit protection, and grounding.
  • Proficiency in electrical component selection, wire sizing, circuit protection, and heat management in control cabinets.
  • Experience producing and reviewing electrical drawings in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar.
  • Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting up to 600VAC.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to export controlled information requirements.
  • 6+ years of electrical engineering experience in an industrial or production environment (preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or eligibility to obtain one (preferred).
  • Experience with hazardous location design for energetic or solvent handling areas (preferred).
  • Experience with arc flash studies and coordination analysis using SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Siemens PLC and control system integration (preferred).
  • Experience interfacing with utilities, AHJs, and outside engineering firms (preferred).
