What you'll do

  • Triage product failures from production and the field based on severity and population impact.
  • Lead root cause investigations down to component and PCB levels to implement design or process updates.
  • Analyze failure and field data to identify trends and quantify impacts on overall reliability.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Supply Chain, and Production teams to ensure manufacturing schedules are met.
  • Identify and escalate issues that threaten the build schedule to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Implement engineering changes to improve product yield, manufacturability, and long-term reliability.
  • Evaluate supplier product change notifications and update designs as necessary for production environments.
  • Perform board-level and system-level debugging and failure analysis during the manufacturing process.

What we're looking for

  • Must possess and be able to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in hardware product development, sustainment, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods like 8D, 5 Whys, fishbone, or FMEA.
  • Deep understanding of fabrication and assembly-level failure analysis including CT scan, X-ray, visual inspection, cross-sectioning, and SEM image analysis.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics.
  • Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, and USB.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools like Excel, SQL, Python, or JMP to track failure trends.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Quality, Supply Chain, and Production Operations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 standards (preferred).
  • Experience with PLM/ERP systems, ECO management, and production quality systems like CAPA or SPC (preferred).
